Knowledge creation, or idea generation, may be defined as a process of focussing upon a subject of interest with the intention of developing new ideas and concepts. This often involves an interaction between explicit knowledge (available data) and subjective knowledge (intuition)

The Stage

Many organisations are currently experiencing rapid change and because of this, need to act dynamically and flexibly to cope with a plethora of new ideas and concepts. Many organisations need to develop innovative new products and services in order to remain competitive; hence knowledge creation/idea generation is a key component for survival in this environment. The application of knowledge creation/idea generation increasingly involves the employment of greater numbers of knowledge workers and the formation of "learning organisations".
