Case study: Six-Sigma used extensively to improve performance in a medical facility
As a result of introducing Six Sigma in 1998, the Commonwealth Health Corporation, in Kentucky, USA generated annualised savings of $276,188 in improved billing, and also decreased its annual radiology expenses by $595,296 within 18 months. From an investment of $1.25 million in Six Sigma, the organisation saved $2.9 million by December 2001. Commonwealth Health used Six-Sigma for:
1) Medical Error Reductions;
2) Reducing patient falls;
