Organisational ethics are associated with the core values espoused by an organisation. These core values are commonly written up in a code of conduct, which serves as a central guide for day-to-day decision making within the organisation.

The Stage

Organisations want to be seen as good corporate citizens, whose behaviour is ethical and dealings are fair. There are a number of benefits for organisations that adhere to sound ethical values, including an enhancement of executive standards of behaviour (i.e. the “tone at the top”), the positive motivation of employees, the protection of the organisation’s reputation, the fostering of greater respect for laws and regulations, and improved business relationships.
