The Stage

Recruitment involves finding the right employee for the right job. Finding individuals with the right mix of skills, knowledge and personal attributes to serve organisational needs is becoming a significant challenge for many employers. The fight for employees is escalating as skill shortages in many industries increases, well-qualified and experienced employees are increasingly being headhunted, and low unemployment rates make recruitment additionally difficult. Recruiting new staff is also an expensive exercise and employing the right person the first time around is becoming a business imperative.

Finding new staff can also be fraught with problems - how to advertise so that potential candidates hear about the job? How to shortlist correctly? Whether to use an agency or conduct the selection process yourself? What skills, knowledge and personal attributes will the new person need to undertake the role most effectively? Once you have chosen who you believe is the best person for the role what do you do next?
