The Wilford factory of Britvic Soft Drinks, a leading UK soft drink manufacturer, introduced AHCs in 1997. 2,100 annual hours were selected on the basis of annual production time, with a 15% allowance to cover changeovers and basic maintenance. Hours annualised were made up of 1872 rostered hours and 228 reserve hours. Rostered hours covered 156 12-hour shifts and workers were rostered off for eleven weeks.
