To reduce costs a US manufacturer examined its materials requisition processes and decided to implement a supplier-managed, in-plant store programme for designated categories of materials. The new programme eliminated the processing of 6,200 annual transactions related to purchase orders, receipts, and invoices, was very successful and generated annual savings of $100,000.
