In 2002 Hoag Hospital, a US health provider, relied on 95 different HR vendors to staff its organisation. To improve efficiency the company enlisted a third party to manage the staffing vendors and this allowed the hospital to deal with just the one third party company. The decision paid off with immediate cost savings and over the next 18 months the hospital saved $2 million.
