Lean initiative increases productivity in an aerospace company
To achieve productivity improvements Boeing, a US aerospace company, launched a lean initiative. A Kanban system was introduced that allowed a supplier to deliver direct to installation and reduced the need to store materials, an inspection process was introduced that allowed parts to be inspected at the factory and thus an inspection stop was eliminated.
