In 2003 and 2004 J.H. Cohn, a US Independent Accounting & Consulting firm, outsourced a few hundred individual tax returns to India. Whilst the offshore preparation of federals returns presented few difficulties the firm found that the processing of state tax returns was much less efficient because of differing state laws. Consequently the firm ended up by saving very little through offshoring and in addition clients were also not sure the process was fool proof. The project was discontinued....
