I was delighted to participate in the 4th European Conference on Industrial Engineering & Operations Management (IEOM) last month. The theme of this cycle was “Road to Resilient Manufacturing and Logistics”. Over the 4 days of the conference, there were more than 90 presentations, 11 competitions, and 6 discussion panels. It was truly an outstanding event!

Dubai Airports, the world’s busiest international passenger airport, handled and secured 31,093,870 bags in 2018.
For its remarkable benchmarking project ‘The Way Beyond Traditional Procurement’, Dubai Municipality won the 7th International Best Practice Competition held in May 2021 (Fig 1). Dubai Municipality were one of five winners at the competition for its best practice in the planning and implementation of a digitized and agile procurement process to improve efficiency, effectiveness, quality, and productivity, and overall satisfaction.
It was 2020. The world was suddenly in the middle of the horrid blaring truth of the COVID-19 pandemic, UNPREPARED! And one organisation that resolved to fight this daunting challenge head-on was the Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a member of the SEHA public health system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE.
