Application/Key learning points: AACE provides ambulance services with a central organisation that supports, coordinates, and implements nationally agreed policy. It also provides the general public and other stakeholders with a central resource of information about ambulance services in Britain’s National Health Service (NHS). EMAS won the world title at the Emergency Services European Championship in Denmark, beating out teams from the host country, Papua New Guinea, Portugal, Switzerland, and Sweden. The competition comprises a series of simulated scenarios to which the teams have to respond. EMAS won for its response to a challenging scenario of a road traffic collision between a car and a bicycle, involving five patients with serious injuries such as gunshot wounds.
