Benchmarking: US transportation firms’ quality improvement programmes
A questionnaire survey to 851 members of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (AST&L) (non-transportation companies were excluded), obtained 197 responses for a response rate of 23.1%. This survey identified that there was a significant relationship between those organisations that had successful quality improvement programmes and those that benchmarked best transportation industry practices.
